How this is calculated
This calculator is built entirely on publicly published benchmarks, not proprietary data:
- Each installed Shopify app typically adds 50–150KB of JavaScript per page load (average of 100KB used here), regardless of whether the app is actively used.
- Stores running 16+ apps average a PageSpeed score roughly 15 points lower than leaner stores; the estimate scales proportionally below that threshold.
- Google and Deloitte research found that a 0.1-second improvement in mobile load time increases retail conversion rate by 8.4% — this calculator applies that relationship in reverse, capped at a realistic ceiling since the relationship isn’t perfectly linear at large delays.
